Report and Investigation Queensbury, NY
Date of Incident: July 7th, 2010
Date of Report: July 7th, 2010 at approximately 10:10PM EST, witness along with girlfriend and daughter, hear something approximately 250 feet from house, across a small brook. Witness grabbed a flashlight and stated he hear bipedal running, (witness is familiar with deer, fox sounds) described as extremely heavy and basal in nature. The unsub jumped into the brook up stream some 300 feet from residence and was believed to have possibly crouched down. Witness stated he observed greenish eye shine coming from the brook.
Date of Investigation: July 8th, 2010, 8:30PM EST. Steve Kulls, responded to the scene and was advised by the witness of the prior. Also the witness added he heard a moaning and hissing sound but unlike a bobcat.
Evidence Found: No found tracks, however found was one impression (non-castable) at about 14 inches long, with a broken branch in the center. Unclear if the print was made by a human and eroded over time. No noted tree branches broken at the 5'9" + levels. Deer tracks were found in an area opposite of the incident. Area negative for beaver, bobcat and unlikely it is bear. No noted cat urine smells, indicating Bobcats did not mark the territory. Area has a rather large vegetable farm approximately a half mile away plus the area is abundant with berries and edible plants.
Behavior Exhibited: Unsub, apparently was observing house and activities, and when a bright light was shined in its direction, unsub fled taking refuge in a brook. Under the primate behavior chart, it is possible it is a foci area however due to the infrequency of the number of sightings in that particular region it is most likely a ranging activity.
Conclusions: Inconclusive, however it could be likely incident was caused by a creature performing ranging activity. Although sightings are rare in this particular area, the extreme temperature may have caused the animal to possibly seek temporary refuge in or near the brook to relieve itself of the borderline 3 digit temperatures seen this entire week in the northeast. The green eye shine observed by the witness is indicative of the unsub having a tapetum. Again it is entirely possible that this incident was caused by a known animal, however the witness, who is a Sasquatch skeptic, believes that it is not a known animal or one he is familiar with, from the area.
Further Actions: Since it was a ranging activity at best, witness was given instructions to report any further abnormalities in the area which would warrant further investigation and research.
